Sahara: Saint Kitts & Nevis reiterates steadfast support for Morocco’s autonomy plan
The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis has reiterated strong support for the autonomy plan offered by Morocco for the Sahara under its sovereignty, saying this plan is the only credible, serious and realistic solution for the resolution of the Sahara regional conflict.
The supportive stand was voiced by foreign minister of this Caribbean country Denzil Llewellyn Douglas during a meeting held Monday in New York with Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
In a joint press release issued following the meeting, Mr. Denzil has reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Sahara territory.
The two officials have expressed commitment to consolidating further cooperation between the two countries on the basis of a new roadmap for the next three years.
As a member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Saint Kitts & Nevis hailed the opening of an OECS Embassy in Rabat in 2018 and a Consulate in Dakhla in 2022, saying this diplomatic overture will contribute to boosting cooperation ties and trade exchanges between Morocco and Eastern Caribbean countries.
