Floods kill 18 people, destroy homes in southern Morocco
Flush floods that swept many villages in south-eastern Morocco killed so far 18 people, including three foreigners from Spain, Peru, and Canada and destroyed some 40 homes, according to authorities.
The deaths were registered in the provinces of Tata, Tiznit and Errachidia, while 9 others are still missing, the interior ministry said.
The floods damaged many roads as well as electricity, water supply and telecommunications networks, the ministry said.
Some flood-hit areas received within few hours over the annual amount of rainfall they would receive in an entire year.
Authorities had issued red warning in the flood-hit areas due to torrential rain.
