Arab League hosts exhibition on Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency’s Action
An exhibition depicting 25 years of action carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency in the service of the Holy City and its inhabitants was inaugurated this Wednesday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
The inauguration ceremony, chaired by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, was attended by the Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, and several diplomats accredited to the Arab League.
The exhibition highlights the Rabat-based Agency’s mission to support the essential social sectors and institutions in the Holy City, and to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants, in line with the directives of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
It also translates the high priority granted to the Palestinian cause by Arab countries, as it is held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Arab League Ministerial council, currently chaired by Morocco.
The exhibition showcases the King’s practical approach to the issue of Al Quds, Moroccan diplomacy’s significant efforts to support the Palestinian position on all fronts, and the fundamental role of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, which is supervised directly by the King, in the social, educational, and cultural fields.
The exhibition displays a section devoted to the important dates in the history of Al-Quds Committee, and another on the evaluation of 25 years of action by the Agency. This section is enriched with photographs and statistics on the projects implemented by the agency, including 200 major undertakings and dozens of small and medium-sized ones, at an overall cost of $64 million.
The third section of the exhibit displays the Agency’s publications on Al-Quds, emphasizing its religious and cultural significance as well as Moroccans’ historical connection to this sacred city.
Another section is showcasing the goods and crafts made by affiliated associations and institutions in Al-Quds, including traditional clothing, textiles, jewellery, woodwork, ceramics, decorative items and other works crafted by Palestinian artisan masters.
Wednesday also witnessed the inauguration of the refurbished Moroccan Salon located next to the Great Hall of the Arab League. The Salon reflects the sophistication of Moroccan architecture as well as the richness and diversity of the Kingdom’s culture.
