Tunisia: Landmine wounds shepherd in restive Kasserine governorate

A Tunisian shepherd lost Monday one of his legs after a landmine exploded at mountain Mont Mghila, in the restive Kasserine province used by militants as hideout.

Abdelgheni Chaâbani, the Director General of health of the governorate told local media Mosaïque Fm the shepherd who is 45 lost his right leg in the explosion and underwent a surgery to stop the bleeding.

The Kasserine region, one of the poorest of the North African country, is hideout of militants who have posed resistance to authorities and security forces.

The militants have planted landmines which have caused causalities even within the ranks of security forces.
