Morocco Hosts 7th Digital Earth Summit 2018

The 7th Digital Earth Summit (DES-2018), an international event focusing on digital earth for sustainable development in Africa, will be held in the Atlantic coastal city of El Jadida, Morocco, April 17-19, 2018.

This gathering is very important for African and international community of earth observation and geo-spatial information science. It is organized by the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and the Chouaib Douakkali University in partnership with the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE) and the Moroccan Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (MARSE).

The event will bring together scientists and professionals from the African and international community to discuss latest achievements in earth observation, review challenges and share experiences.

The conference program features keynote speeches by leading scholars, technical sessions with reports of the latest research outcomes, debates on topics such as capacity building, Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), big data, space policy, programs and projects, as well as commercial exhibitions showing latest products and services in Digital earth and geospatial information technologies.

The experts will look into all aspects of geospatial data, earth sciences, space sciences and information sciences and technology for monitoring and forecasting natural and human phenomena.

They will also discuss best practices and applications for earth observation as well as latest digital earth technologies to achieve sustainable development goals.

Participants will review several other issues related to the role of digital earth technology in combating famine, geo-ethics and the importance of earth observation and geo-information sciences.

Digital Earth is a global initiative seeking to construct a comprehensive virtual representation of the planet. It is a collaborative effort between Earth sciences, space sciences and information sciences to monitor and forecast natural and human phenomena.

The International Society for Digital Earth is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization. Its principal goal is to promote academic exchange, science and technology innovation, education, and international collaboration towards Digital Earth.
