Libya’s Prime Minister Abdulhamid Al-Dbeibah and US State Department Senior Adviser for Libyan Political Affairs Jeremy Brent held talks in Tripoli on August 23, 2026, focusing on bilateral cooperation and efforts to unify Libya’s state institutions.
The two officials discussed measures to strengthen coordination among institutions to support political and economic stability. They also expressed support for the agreement reached by the 4+4 Mini Dialogue Committee, describing it as an important step towards completing the political process and paving the way for elections. Discussions further covered implementation of the Unified Development Agreement, including efforts to improve public spending and strengthen economic stability.
Al-Dbeibah and Brent also explored greater Libyan-American cooperation in energy, investment and development, as well as opportunities for more US companies to enter the Libyan market.
Al-Dbeibah stressed the importance of stronger partnerships with the United States to boost Libya’s economy, attract investment, create jobs and improve public services.
