Sahara: Washington Tells Algerian Regime & Polisario Autonomy is the ONLY Acceptable Solution

The United States has reiterated its unwavering recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara and support for Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic Autonomy Proposal as the only basis for a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution.

The American supportive comes in a statement issued by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio who offered his warmest greetings to King Mohammed VI and to Moroccan people on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Monarch’s accession to the throne.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States has been unequivocal: we recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and support Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic Autonomy Proposal as the only basis for a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution,” said the U.S. top diplomat.

“Any other path prolongs the status quo and is unacceptable”, warned the U.S. Secretary of State, saying that “genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty provides this region and the continent with the chance to finally move forward after 50 years.”

“This dispute must end now, and the United States will continue to push toward that goal. American diplomacy remains focused on a mutually beneficial solution for all who call this region home,” underlined Mr. Marco Rubio.

“Under His Majesty’s leadership, Morocco has been an anchor of regional stability and security, including through its vital role in the Abraham Accords”, he said, noting that the United States “deeply values this partnership and looks forward to strengthening our work together to secure the Sahel”.

The U.S. Secretary of State has also lauded the royal vision for economic growth which will create new prosperity for both Moroccan and American peoples.

U.S. President Donald Trump has directed his administration to encourage economic and social development with Morocco, including in the Sahara territory, said Mr. Rubio.

For nearly 250 years, the United States and Morocco have shared the longest friendship in American history. This is a strong and enduring partnership built on shared values and a common commitment to peace, security, and prosperity.

“As we look toward the next 250 years of friendship, the United States will remain your trusted partner in energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and defense,” said Head of U.S. diplomacy, affirming that Washington and Rabat will continue to advance peace, regional stability, and shared economic growth.
