The participative dynamic marking cooperation between the Moroccan and Mauritanian interior departments, mainly in matters of security, migration and decentralized was reviewed at a meeting Friday in Rabat between the two countries’ interior ministers Abdelouafi Laftit, and Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine, who is on a visit to the Kingdom this July 17-18.
The two officials also reviewed several issues of mutual interest, and agreed to bolster bilateral cooperation in the fields relevant to their departments and develop coordination mechanisms on issues of common interest, in a spirit of mutual trust, solidarity and partnership in the service of the two brotherly countries’ interests, the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior said in a statement.
This meeting is part of the ties of brotherhood and fruitful cooperation between Morocco and Mauritania, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who share the common will to strengthen the foundations of South-South cooperation and enshrine solidarity and mutual action against the current challenges, the statement said.
The two sides welcomed the distinguished relations between the two countries, and reiterated their shared determination to make further efforts to elevate cooperation between the two ministries to the level of these privileged relations.
Lemine’s visit reflects the positive momentum in relations between Morocco and Mauritania, and embodies the mutual determination to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields that fall within the scope of competence of the two departments, in a spirit of brotherhood and complementarity, the statement added.
