The President of the Paris-based Arab World Institute (IMA), Anne-Claire Legendre, hailed the cultural momentum and the progress achieved by Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
At a press briefing held at the French Institute of Casablanca, on Monday, Legendre said she had been particularly impressed by the creative and inventive cultural scene she witnessed in the Kingdom, voicing her admiration for the dynamic artists and young generation of creators.
The IMA Head shed light on what she described as a “vibrant artistic scene,” in the visual arts as well as in music and cultural industries.
She noted that this vitality is part of the cultural ambition driven by King Mohammed VI, who has fostered the creation of numerous cultural infrastructures and contributed to the emergence of a new generation of talents that the Arab World Institute intends to support and promote, notably among European audiences.
In this vein, she said that discussions are underway with the Ministry of Youth & Culture with a view to strengthening cooperation in several fields linked to the cultural and creative industries.
This cooperation should notably concern the professional development of young Moroccan creators through residency, publication and exhibition programs, as well as sectors such as gaming, design, fashion, contemporary art and books, she specified.
The IMA President, who stressed the importance of Morocco’s heritage, both tangible and intangible, said she held talks with executives of several national institutions, notably the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Archives of Morocco and the National Institute of Archaeology and Heritage Sciences (INSAP), in order to develop joint projects of promotion, research and exhibition.
Legendre further recalled that Morocco, one of the founding countries of the Arab World Institute, has been “an exceptional partner” of the institution since its creation.
