Morocco, which imports the bulk of its fuel needs, holds reserves covering about 48 days of diesel consumption and more than 40 days of gasoline demand, Energy Transition Minister Leila Benali said, as the country seeks to reassure markets over supply security.
Speaking in parliament, Benali said stocks of other energy products were also at levels sufficient to meet summer demand.
She said 66 energy projects worth 55 billion dirhams ($5.5 billion) had been approved since 2021, compared with 23 projects over the previous decade, reflecting faster investment in the sector.
The Moroccan government said it will add $2 billion to its 2026 budget to offset the impact of the Gulf war on the domestic market to keep prices of public transportation, gas and electricity stable, in addition to funding flood recovery efforts.
