Morocco accounted for nearly three‑quarters of Spain’s cucumber imports in 2025, as the country sharply increased purchases of the vegetable, according to data published by agricultural market specialist Hortoinfo.
Spain imported 25,440 tons of cucumbers last year, valued at 30.9 million euros, representing increases of more than 248% in volume and over 340% in value compared with 2016, based on figures from Estacom, the statistical service of Spain’s tax agency and ICEX.
Morocco supplied 18,240 tons of cucumbers to the Spanish market in 2025, representing 71.7% of total imports.
Moroccan shipments rose by 215.6% over the past decade, underlining the country’s growing role as Spain’s dominant external supplier.
In value terms, imports of Moroccan cucumbers reached 21.1 million euros, an increase of about 313.7% compared with 2016. The average import price stood at 1.16 euros per kilogram.
Germany ranked as Spain’s second-largest supplier, accounting for 11.1% of total imports with 2,820 tons, valued at 4.29 million euros, at an average price of 1.52 euros per kilogram.
Portugal followed with 2,319 tons, or 9.1% of total imports, worth 2.49 million euros, with an average import price of 1.07 euros per kilogram.
