Police at the Tanger-Med port, in coordination with customs services, foiled an international drug trafficking operation on Thursday evening, seizing 3 tons and 932 kg of chira.
The joint border control operation targeted an international transport truck registered in Morocco, and led to the seizure of drug shipments concealed in specially built compartments inside prototype refrigerated fish containers, prepared and packaged for international trafficking, Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.
The truck driver, a Moroccan national, has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the full circumstances of the operation.
This operation forms part of the ongoing efforts of security services at border crossing points to combat international drug trafficking and psychotropic substance networks, the DGSN said.
