Sudanese Army Destroys RSF Drones and Air Defense Systems

The Sudanese Army on Tuesday reported the successful destruction of drones and air defence systems operated by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as fighting intensifies and allegations of foreign involvement surface.

Brigadier General Assim Awad, Army spokesperson, said units had precisely targeted RSF warehouses and operational sites for drones, dismantling the group’s non-conventional aerial capabilities. Images released by the military showed the destruction of Chinese-made CH-95 drones and FK-2000 air defence systems deployed in Darfur and Kordofan.

The RSF, which has been accused of receiving drone support from the United Arab Emirates, had used these systems to strike both civilian and military sites, particularly after their retreat from Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan. Foreign experts reportedly assist in operating these advanced systems to offset the RSF’s limited conventional air power.

The army confirmed that the operations targeted supply routes, humanitarian aid convoys, and medical facilities used by the RSF, which had resulted in civilian casualties. Recent military actions have aimed to restore access along national roads and protect civilian populations amid escalating drone strikes.

The offensive reflects a broader effort by Sudanese forces to neutralize the RSF’s aerial capabilities while stabilizing the Kordofan and Darfur regions.
