Egypt: Rashpetco targets doubling gas output by FY2029/2030

Egyptian gas producer Rashid Petroleum Company (Rashpetco) plans to double its natural gas production by fiscal year 2029/2030, the Ministry of Petroleum announced. The target forms part of a five-year expansion plan covering Rashpetco, Burullus Gas Company and the Mina West offshore field under the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession.

The strategy focuses on maximizing existing infrastructure while attracting fresh investment to secure domestic gas supplies ahead of peak summer demand. Rashpetco and Burullus operate as joint ventures with the Egypt General Petroleum Company, under the oversight of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, alongside international partners Shell and Petronas.

Drilling at the Mina West field is scheduled to begin next month, with the first well expected to produce 160 million cubic feet of gas and 1,900 barrels of condensate per day by the fourth quarter of 2026. Further developments include WDDM’s Phase 12-A project, a $350 million investment set to commence in the first quarter of 2027, projected to add 150 million cubic feet of gas and 2,700 barrels of condensate daily.

The ministry also cited positive results from recent seismic surveys identifying new drilling prospects, as Egypt continues to ramp up domestic oil and gas production following a four-year slump, with output gradually rising since August 2025.
