Chinese Sunrise Group Launches $140 Mln Textile Project in Fez

Chinese Sunrise Group has launched a major textile project in the Moroccan city of Fez which will host the 20-ha factory complex, including yarn spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, and ready-to-wear garment manufacturing.

This facility, spearheaded by Sunrise subsidiary Euwen Textiles, will use renewable energy and water recycling systems. It is expected to create around 3,000 direct jobs and another 1,500 indirect ones, giving a new momentum to the social and economic fabric of the Fez-Meknes region.

This project will enable Fez to position itself as a major textile hub and strengthen Morocco’s national textile production capacity. It is the second large-scale project of Sunrise Company in Morocco after the first one launched in early 2025 in Skhirat (near Rabat).

Morocco’s textile industry is a cornerstone of the country’s economy, blending rich traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial production. It is one of the country’s top industrial employers and exporters, benefiting from proximity to Europe, free trade agreements (the EU, U.S. , AfCFTA…), and government incentives under the Industrial Acceleration Plan.

The sector counts over 1,700 firms, employing 220,000 (mostly women) and producing 1 billion garment pieces annually. They export over $4 billion to European market (Spain, France, UK, Germany…).
