Egypt’s Armed Forces denies reports of unlawful officer privileges

Egypt’s Armed Forces have dismissed social media claims alleging that military officers were granted unlawful privileges, describing the reports as a coordinated misinformation, drive by hostile actors abroad.
In a statement issued on Sunday, 21 December, the military said the circulating documents were falsely attributed to the institution and deliberately included names of retired or long-serving former officers to give the allegations unwarranted credibility.
The Armed Forces stressed that the claims contradict its core principles of upholding citizens’ dignity, national security, and the equal application of the law. It urged the public to rely solely on official statements from the military spokesperson, reaffirming its commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law as a people-centred institution safeguarding Egypt and its citizens.
