Sudan’s industrial backbone crippled as RSF attacks level over 1,800 Factories

Sudan’s Industry minister has reported sweeping devastation across Khartoum’s industrial landscape, confirming that more than 1,800 factories were either partially or completely destroyed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Addressing journalists in Port Sudan Mahasen Ali Yaqoub said a Government damage assessment revealed that 553 factories were reduced to rubble, while 1,267 others sustained serious structural harm.

She also noted that RSF strikes deliberately targeted critical infrastructure such as energy systems, effectively halting industrial operations across Khartoum, Al-Jazira and Sennar. The assault has paralyzed production nationwide, forcing Sudan to import basic goods. The Sudanese army regained control of Khartoum in May 2025, but the country remains split between army-controlled states and RSF-held territory in Darfur as the conflict—ongoing since April 2023—continues to claim thousands of lives and displace millions.
