Mexico: Speaker of Morocco House of Representative calls for respect of sovereignty & territorial integrity of countries

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, has called on Mexico to work hand-in-hand with Morocco for a peaceful resolution of conflicts and the respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity of States for the sake of global peace and stability.

In an address he made lately before Mexican lawmakers, Alami said the two countries face the same challenges, including irregular migration, climate change, terrorism, and organized crime, noting that Morocco and Mexico deploy huge financial, logistical and human resources to ensure the international community’s security.

He voiced Morocco’s will, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to strengthen further relations with Mexico and establish a diversified and sustainable partnership.

The strategic maritime location of the two countries opens up huge opportunities for the two nations to foster their cooperation ties and develop political relations serving the interests of Moroccan and Mexican peoples, said Talbi Alami, who was leading a parliamentary delegation on a working visit to Mexico.

Several Mexican MPs took the floor to stress the need to enhance partnership to match the expectation of the peoples of the two countries celebrating this year the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

Senator Olga Sánchez Cordero said Morocco is Mexico’s gateway to the African market, while Mexico is a key platform for Moroccan companies looking for growth and expansion in Latin America.

For her part, MP Marcela Guerra said cooperation between the two countries is governed by more than 17 agreements covering various sectors including tourism, energy, industry…

She stressed the importance of multilateralism in addressing global challenges such as climate change, migration, and the fight against arms & drug trafficking, while deputy César Augusto Rendón García called for a constructive and pragmatic diplomacy, especially regarding the Sahara issue.

MP Blanca Estela Hernández Rodríguez hailed the growing trade exchanges between the two countries and underlined the huge joint business opportunities offered in agribusiness, renewable energy and water resource management.
