
Malian army counts on Morocco for training, equipment, logistics
Moroccan-Malian joint military commission convened its first meeting in Bamako this week to discuss cooperation prospects, especially in terms of training and equipment of the army of the sub-Saharan country.
The meeting also focused on cooperation in logistics and sharing experiences in addressing regional security threats.
Mali’s Ministry of Defense stated in a press release on the eve of the meeting that the commission seeks to “deepen strategic dialogue and enhance the exchange of expertise between the armed forces of the two countries.”
The three-day meeting, which opened Monday, was co-chaired by Brigadier General Mahamadou Massaoulé Samaké and Brigadier General Abdelghani Mouhib.
The meeting shows the two countries readiness to strengthen military cooperation and consolidate relations of friendship based on mutual respect and shared interest.
Mali, Niger, Chad and Burkina Faso have all adhered to the Royal initiative offering Atlantic access to these landlocked African countries. The royal initiative seeks to transform the economies of the Sahel region and unlock its untapped potentials bringing in development, peace, stability and shared prosperity.
