
King assures new AU Commission Chairperson of Morocco’s support for all his initiatives defending Africa’s development, peace, security
King Mohammed VI has addressed a message of congratulations to Djibouti’s Mahmoud Ali Youssouf following his election as Chairperson of the African Union Commission, wherein he assured him of Morocco’s support for all his initiatives seeking to defend Africa’s development, peace, and security.
“We are totally convinced that the African Union Commission will find in your person an experienced leader, concerned and committed to defending the issues of development, peace and security on our African continent,” the King emphasized in his message.
In this connection, the Monarch assured the new AU Commission Chairperson of Morocco’s total support for all initiatives aiming to serve these issues, to promote active solidarity and constructive cooperation between African countries, and to meet the various challenges they face to achieve greater prosperity and comprehensive development.
In his message, the Monarch expressed to Ali Youssouf his warmest congratulations and his sincere wishes of success in the exercise of his high functions, and pointed out that the confidence placed in Ali Youssouf is a mark of recognition and consideration of his competence as a great statesman in the brotherly country of Djibouti, as well as of his proven diplomatic experience, his professionalism, and his noble human qualities.
Mahmoud Ali Youssouf was elected Chairperson of the African Union Commission during the 38th AU Ordinary Summit. He replaces Moussa Faki Mahamat who was at the helm of the commission for two terms.
