Morocco, Germany to bolster religious cooperation
Morocco and Germany signed a joint Declaration of intent, on Tuesday in Rabat, to bolster bilateral cooperation in religious affairs.
This agreement was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq, and German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior Juliane Seifert following talks on several issues of mutual interest.
The Declaration, which particularly concerns Moroccans in Germany as well as Muslim communities there, involves coordination and consultation regarding the training of religious guides, Minister Toufiq told the press.
The provisions of this agreement will come into effect at the earliest opportunity, he added.
For her part, Seifert expressed her country’s desire to develop cooperation with the Kingdom, particularly in training Imams, considering this Declaration of Intent an important step toward strengthening bilateral ties.
