Morocco: Kuwaiti, French nationals on international arrest warrant arrested in Casablanca, Marrakech

Elements of the Moroccan national security services at the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca arrested, this Wednesday, a Kuwaiti national on an international arrest warrant issued by Kuwaiti judicial authorities, a security source said.

The wanted Kuwaiti was apprehended upon landing in the airport, after a check against the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) revealed that the individual was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Kuwaiti judicial authorities, for his alleged involvement in financial and economic crimes.

Kuwaiti judicial authorities have been notified of this arrest, and the suspect has been placed in police custody awaiting the extradition procedure.

On Tuesday, Moroccan security forces arrested a French national of Tunisian origin at Marrakech-Menara International Airport, acting on an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities.

The 40-year-old suspect was detained after an Interpol database check confirmed he was wanted for alleged involvement in drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, a security source said.

He has been placed in police custody pending extradition proceedings, and French authorities have been notified to submit the necessary documentation.

These arrests are part of international security cooperation, as well as the sustained efforts made by the Moroccan security services to track down and arrest people wanted internationally for cross-border crimes.
