Iraq reiterates support for Morocco’s territorial integrity

Iraq has reiterated, through the voice of its National Security Advisor Qassem Al-Araji, its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.

Iraq’s National Security Advisor, who is leading a high-level delegation on a working visit to Morocco, made the remarks at a press briefing in Rabat Monday following his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

Al-Araji said that his meeting with the Foreign Minister provided an opportunity to address several regional issues, and that both sides agreed that dialogue and diplomatic action are the basis for resolving all issues and disputes.

Talks covered other matters of common interest, he said, emphasizing the deep-rooted and enduring relations between the Moroccan and Iraqi peoples, as well as the importance of strengthening bilateral relations that he described as “strategic and long-standing.” We are pooling efforts to upgrade these relations further, he said.

The Iraqi official also conferred the same day with Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi on strategic issues of shared concern and on ways of strengthening cooperation, deepening exchanges on issues of common interest, and examining recent developments in the region, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

Ouahbi highlighted Morocco’s ambitious reforms across various sectors and reiterated the kingdom’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Iraq, particularly through the completion of judicial cooperation agreements in both civil and criminal matters.

He also stressed the importance of expanding partnerships in areas such as digital transformation, legislation, expertise exchange, and training.

The Minister reaffirmed Morocco’s support for Iraq’s sovereignty, security, and stability, and commended the efforts made by Iraqi authorities in these areas. He reiterated Morocco’s strong opposition to any threats to Iraq’s territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of preventing escalation while ensuring the protection of all Iraqi communities.

For his part, Al-Araji reiterated Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Morocco and promoting regional and global peace and stability, with a shared vision for greater prosperity and sustainable development.
