Panamanian FM expresses high esteem for royal message, reiterates Panama’s decision to suspend all recognition of pseudo-‘sadr’
Panamanian Foreign Minister Javier Eduardo Martinez-Acha Vasquez has expresses high esteem for the royal message that King Mohammed VI had addressed to President of Panama José Raul Mulino, after the Latin American country decided to suspend all recognition of the so-called “sadr”, a decision that opens a new page in bilateral relations.
This came at a video conference held Wednesday between Vasquez and his Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita.
On behalf of the Panamanian government and people, Vasquez conveyed his high esteem for the Royal Message.
Panama’s suspension of its recognition of the separatist entity comes ahead of the country’s term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council starting January 1, 2025.
As such, Panama will actively contribute to seeking a definitive solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, within the parameters established by the latest UN Security Council resolution, Vasquez said.
Panama’s decision also reinforces the international momentum with several countries from across the world favoring a definitive solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, based on the Autonomy Initiative presented by Morocco since 2007.
