King Mohammed VI has pointed out in a message of congratulations to the Olympic team which made history by winning the Bronze Medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris that this performance confirms the privileged and outstanding place Moroccan football now holds at the continental and international scales.
“We can only, with this Olympic feat, the first of its kind for Moroccan football, salute your outstanding performance throughout this prestigious tournament, the high spirit of competitiveness and sincere patriotism that you have shown through your firm determination to confirm the privileged and prime place that Moroccan football now holds continentally and internationally,” the Monarch said in his message.
Reiterating his sincere congratulations to the members of the national team and to all those who contributed to achieving this honorable feat, the King wished the members of the Moroccan team further success in their promising sporting career, and assured them of his solicitude and benevolence.
Morocco won their first-ever medal at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament with a stunning victory over Egypt. The Atlas Lions thrashed Egypt 6-0 in placement match in Nantes on Thursday to finish third at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024.
Moroccan goals were scored by Abdessamad Ezzalzouli (23′), Soufiane Rahimi, who scored twice (26′, 64′), Bilal El Khannouss (51′), Akram Nakach (73′) and Achraf Hakimi (87′).
