Tourism: Morocco breaks 2019 record, attracts 13.2 million tourists up to Nov

Morocco has already broken 2019 tourist arrival record with 13.2 million visitors, despite challenges to the sector from external shocks and the earthquake, tourism ministry said.

Morocco is poised to attract 14 million by year’s end thanks to the resilience of the sector and the attractiveness of Morocco’s offer.

“These records unveiled by the ministry show the increasing attractiveness of the Kingdom as a first-class tourist destination. It also shows that Morocco has resisted the regional geopolitical shocks. Despite the outbreak of the war in the Middle East, there was no impact on tourism,” Tourism Minister commented.

Morocco plans to attract 17.5 million tourists by 2026, as it bolsters air and rail travel between cities ahead of the 2030 World Cup.

In a recent deal, Ryanair said it will launch flights connecting 9 Moroccan cities in summer 2024. It also plans to add 24 new international destinations linking Morocco to key markets in Europe.
