Tunisia: Two top home security commanders fired in wake of prison-break by five terrorists

Tunisia’s Interior ministry announced Tuesday October 31 the removal of both Director General of Special Services and of General Intelligence few moments after five high profile terrorists managed to break away from a prison in the town of Mornaguia, 14km from capital Tunis.

The terrorists namely Ahmed Melki aka “Le Somalien”, Ameur Balâazi, Raed Touati, Aala Ghazouani and Nader Ghanmi sneaked out of the prison in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the ministry of Justice.

The five have been under surveillance as they were flagged as high-profile criminals who were involved in terrorism activities. Leila Jaffel, the country’s Justice minister also fired the director of prison and appointed the Inspector general of the ministry to probe the circumstances of the prison break.
