Diamond League: Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali confirms his champion status in China

Morocco’s double World Champion Soufiane El Bakkali (3000m steeplechase) has continued his momentum, securing victory in the Diamond League in Xiamen, China, Saturday.

Fresh off his second World Championship title in the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary, Aug. 19-27, Soufiane El Bakkali snatched gold in the Diamond League on Saturday in Xiamen, China, with a time of 8:10.31.

He finished ahead of Ethiopia’s Samuel Firewu (8:11.29) and Kenya’s Amos Serem (8:14.41).

The other Moroccans participating in the race, Mohamed Tindouft ranked 9th (8:21.16), while Mohammed Msaad finished 11th (8:22.77).

With this 16th victory in the Diamond League, Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali remains undefeated since 2021.

Despite his absence in Paris and Monaco, the native of Fes has emerged victorious in all the meetings he participated in this year (Rabat, Stockholm, Silesia, and now Xiamen).
