Moroccan double Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali won the 3000 m steeplechase on Sunday at the Silesia meeting in Poland, the 12th stage of the Diamond League.

El Bakkali won in 8 min 04 sec 29/100ths, ahead of Kenya’s Amos Serem (8:04.29) and Ethiopia’s Samuel Firewu (8:04.34).

The Moroccan champion recently retained his Olympic title in the 3,000 m steeplechase at the Paris Olympics, having previously won gold at the Tokyo Games.
