Morocco’s King represented at inauguration of Paraguayan new President
King Mohammed VI was represented at the inauguration of Paraguay’s new president, Santiago Pena.
The Sovereign was represented at the inauguration ceremony by Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Santiago Pena was sworn in as Paraguay’s new president in an inauguration ceremony that took place in Asunción on Tuesday.
The 44-year-old economist and former finance minister was the candidate of the conservative Colorado Party, which has governed Paraguay almost uninterruptedly for 76 years.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of many of the region’s heads of state, including President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil and Argentina’s Alberto Fernández.
President of Uruguay Luis Lacalle Po, President of Chile Gabriel Boric and King Felipe VI of Spain attended the ceremony together with delegations representing some 90 countries.
King Mohammed VI had sent a message of congratulations to Santiago Pena, following his election as President of Paraguay.
In this message, the Sovereign expressed his firm determination to work with President Pena to strengthen the strong bonds of friendship that unite the two countries and to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields in the interests of the two friendly peoples and the consolidation of South-South cooperation.
