Throne Day: King Mohammed VI chairs ceremony of allegiance in Tetouan
King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, chaired Monday afternoon the ceremony of allegiance, in commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the accession of the Sovereign to the Throne.
The Moroccan Sovereign was accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and Prince Moulay Ahmed, during this ceremony, which took place at the Place du Mechouar of the Royal Palace in Tetouan.
The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and the walis and governors of the wilayas, prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom, as well as the walis and governors of the Ministry’s central administration, renewed or pledged allegiance to the Sovereign.
Afterwards, delegations representing the twelve regions of the Kingdom and the various prefectures and provinces renewed their allegiance to Amir Al-Mouminine.
This ceremony, which reflects Morocco’s centuries-old civilizations and customs and the unwavering attachment of the Moroccan people to the Throne, ended with a five-gun salute, as the Sovereign responded to the cheers of the representatives of the different regions of the Kingdom.
The allegiance ceremony, which crowned the festivities marking the 24th anniversary of the King’s enthronement, is an opportunity for representatives of the Kingdom’s twelve regions to reiterate their attachment to the Sovereign, and to emphasize that the bond between the Throne and the People is deeply rooted in the country’s history, and has always been the foundation of the Moroccan Nation, and the supreme expression of its solidity and durability.
The ceremony was attended by the Head of Government, the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament, Advisors to the King, members of the government, the Presidents of constitutional bodies, senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, and a number of civilian and military personalities.
