Morocco’s Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, Islamic Supreme Council of Al-Quds partner to promote education in Holy City

Rabat-based Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, a Moroccan charity focused on the development of the Al-Quds, and the Islamic Supreme Council of Al-Quds signed a cooperation agreement meant to support education in the holy city of Al Quds.

The agreement, initialed by the Agency’s Programs and Projects Coordinator in Al-Quds, Ismail Ramli, and the Chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Al-Quds, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, equally aims to consolidate the two institutions’ partnership and foster collaboration in various areas.

“The agreement includes the creation of an endowment library to support a documentation project, the organization of the 7th academic conference of the Council and the printing of its publications,” said Cheikh Sabri during the signing ceremony.

The agreement reflects the commitment of both entities to advancing research, education, and preserving the cultural heritage in Al-Quds, he said.

Sabri further emphasized that the Council is dedicated to working hand in hand with the Agency to implement projects that will have a positive impact on the residents of Al-Quds and the various institutions within the city.

He expressed gratitude for the Agency’s consistent support, recalling their collaboration dates back to 2011, and hailing the enduring bond between the two parties.

In this regard, the President of the Council expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan people and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency for their support to Al-Quds and its Holy shrines.

For his part, Ismail Ramli stressed that this agreement is part of the agency’s action, in application of royal instructions, to continue efforts to support Al Quds and its institutions in various sectors.

“The King’s personal supervision of the work of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, as the executive and field arm of the Al-Quds Committee, reinforces our commitment to choosing realistic and achievable projects, within the framework of innovative initiatives and qualitative partnerships to support Al-Quds institutions,” Ramli said.

As a reminder, the Supreme Islamic Council of Al-Quds is the first Islamic body created after 1967 and plays an important role in the protection of the Holy shrines of Islam in Al-Quds, including the Al-Aqsa mosque.

In another development, Secretary General of the Islamic-Christian Organization for the Support of Al-Quds and the Holy Places, Hatem Abdelkader, commended Morocco’s political support for the Palestinian cause and for the Holy City’s resistance, the defense of its Arab identity and the preservation of its Islamic and Christian cultural, civilizational and religious heritage.

King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, places the Palestinian cause on the same level as the issue of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, the former Palestinian Minister for Al-Quds told MAP, underlining the emphasis placed on the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the speech the King delivered Saturday evening on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of his enthronement.

This bears witness to Morocco’s national and historic commitment to the Palestinian and Maqdissi cause, he said, emphasizing that this commitment is “the continuation of a historical legacy spanning more than eight centuries, marked by unwavering support and unfailing mobilization in defense of the Holy City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

The former Palestinian minister also welcomed the content of the Royal Speech calling for strengthening Arab-Arab relations, in particular the fraternal ties linking Morocco and Algeria, the importance Morocco attaches to the relationship uniting the two brotherly peoples, and the good intentions shown by the Sovereign towards this neighbor country.

In his Throne Day Speech, King Mohammed VI has once again outstretched his hand to Algeria, reassuring Algerian leaders and people that Morocco will never harm them, and expressing hope that relations between the two neighboring countries would return to normality and improve.

“I should like to tell the leaders and people of our sister nation, Algeria, that no evil will ever be done to them, nor will any harm ever come to them from Morocco…I want them to know that we attach special importance to the bonds of affection, friendship, exchange and interaction between our peoples,” the King pointed out, wishing that things would return to normality, and that borders between the two neighboring countries would open.
