UN allocates Congo around $1 million to fund agriculture projects
The United Nations has provided Congo around $1 million for agriculture projects under the supervision of the World Food Program (WFP) bureau in the central African country.
The financing, over two years, was announced by Dima Al-Khatib, Director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).
“This is a project for which we’re going to do close monitoring to draw lessons and good practices that we can also disseminate to other countries in need of such experiences”, indicated D. Al-Khatib, following a meeting with Congo’s top diplomat, Denis Christel Sassou-Nguesso.
The agriculture project according to Sassou-Nguesso is one of the key pillars of the 2022-2026 National Development Program. “We put on the table a number of issues facing South-South cooperation, notably the innovative financing mechanisms we want to push forward and the various programs the institution is involved in”, he added.
