Senegal mulls plans to bid for AFCON 2027 organization

Senegal is mulling plans to bid for the organization of the 2027 African Cup of Nations, Prime Minister of the West African country, Amadou Ba, said.

“We will study in close collaboration with the FSF the specifications for the organization of the CAN 2027. And if the conditions are met, I will submit Senegal’s candidature. Moreover, it has already been validated by the President of the Republic,” Ba said.

“We have made diplomatic arrangements for Senegal’s application to be submitted as soon as possible,” he added.

Ba has also summed the role of Sports Minister after opposition member occupying the position stepped down last month. Senegal hosted Africa’s largest and most popular sport event in 1992. The country has in recent years improved its sports infrastructures and its team are the reigning champions of the AFCON.

Africa’s football governing body CAF announced late last month that six countries have already submitted their bid to host the 2027 football champions.
