FIFA: Yassine Bounou among seven candidates vying for the Best Goalkeeper Award 2022

Moroccan international Yassine Bounou, Goalkeeper of the Spanish club Sevilla, is on the award’s list for the best goalkeeper in the world in 2023.

The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) revealed Thursday the seven best goalkeepers in the world, who compete for the award for the best in the world. The list includes the Atlas Lion Yassine Bounou.

The football body hailed the goalkeeper as “a calm and assured presence as the last line of defense for club and country.”

FIFA praised Bono’s exceptional performance during Morocco’s World Cup run, noting that it is “a continuation of the form he has shown at club level,” which was recognized when Bono received La Liga’s Zamora Trophy for best goalkeeper.

The list also included the Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, Croatia’s Dominic Levakovic, and Germany’s captain Manuel Neuer.

According to FIFA, the award ceremony will take place on February 27, 2023, while awards will be granted in recognition of achievements from August 8, 2021 to December 18, 2022.

Senegalese Edouard Mendy, Chelsea goalkeeper, won the award last year, after his brilliant season with the “Blues” Chelsea and Senegal’s “Teranga Lions”.
