Abidjan-based Nangui Abrogoua University, CERFAM ink research collaboration deal to tackle malnutrition, anger
Nangui Abrogoua University (UNA) in the Ivory capital Abidjan and Regional Center of Excellence against Hunger and Malnutrition (CERFAM), signed Tuesday an agreement to promote innovative researches aiming at implement new strategies to identify and promote policies and strategies to fight hunger, combat all forms of malnutrition and promote sustainable food systems in Africa, Abidjan.net reports.
Prof. Tano Yao, President of UNA, indicated that the signing took place because both institutions have converging interests.
Both institutions will cooperate in four areas namely plant production; aquaculture and food security and come up with innovative solutions that will contribute to the reduction of hunger and malnutrition in the country, in the sub-region and in Africa.
For Patrick Teixeira, the interim Director of CERFAM, the agreement is a privileged opportunity for the mobilization and sharing of knowledge, best practices, expertise and technologies in the fields of food security, agri-food systems, and nutrition.
The agreement spans over the 2022-2023 period.
