AfDB lends €118 mln in support of Morocco’s Covid-19 social response

The African Development Bank extended a loan of €118 million to help Morocco address the social challenges triggered by the coronavirus pandemic.

The loan is part of a program launched in 2019 by the bank to help Morocco improve its social protection mechanisms.

In this respect, the current loan adds to a credit of €183 million from the bank in late 2019, the bank said in a statement.

The new loan will also be geared to building new health infrastructure and improve service quality, it said.

Thanks to this funding, Morocco will acquire 666 intensive care beds, testing kits as well as medical emergency equipment.
