COVID-19: Moroccan startup launches large-scale production of diagnostic testing Kit

Moroccan startup MOLDIAG, created by the Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research (MAScIR), has launched the large-scale production of a 100% Moroccan diagnostic kit for COVID-19.

The startup, which obtained, in May 2020, national and international validations, has already received a first order of 100,000 units from the Ministry of Health, MAScIR said Thursday in a press release.

After having obtained the necessary validations, the major challenge for MOLDIAG was to launch “urgently” its industrial production unit. So, it accelerated the equipment of its laboratory with the necessary materials for a large-scale production, the press release said, adding that MOLDIAG produced by June 30, 2020, 10,000 diagnostic tests of Sars-CoV2/Covid-19, which have been delivered to public authorities.

MOLDIAG, which obtained from the Health Ministry the product registration certificate on July 21, 2020, can now produce and market its kit.

MAScIR kits will be provided to Moroccan laboratories at a competitive price, which will increase the screening capacity in the country, which is witnessing a spike in coronavirus cases.

It has a monthly production capacity of 1 million diagnostic kits and is in discussion with potential local distributors to make the Sars-CoV2/Covid-19 MAScIR Kit available on the market.

Created in 2007, MAScIR aims to promote and develop research and development centers in Morocco that meet the country’s needs in advanced technologies, particularly in the medical & biology sector.
