Covid-19: Morocco MPs to discuss lockdown exit plan on June 11
Moroccan MPs will discuss on June 11 the government’s exit strategy from the ongoing covid-19 lockdown enforced in the country since March 20 to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
The parliamentary debate comes as the authorities are preparing to lift the lockdown on June 10 after having extended the public health emergency twice.
“The Government plan for leaving the coronavirus lockdown” will be discussed during the parliamentary monthly session, said a press release issued Wednesday by the House of Representatives.
Morocco’s quick response to covid-19 and the swift decisions made by King Mohammed VI to curb the spread of the deadly virus have been praised worldwide.
According to Health minister Khalid Ait Taleb, the precautionary measures combined with the lockdown helped the North African Kingdom to contain the coronavirus pandemic and cut infections by 85 pc.
In Morocco, covid-19 has so far infected 7,922 people, killed 206 while 6,866 others recovered.
