Al Mada Foundation delivers first package of 1 million masks to Health Ministry
The Al Mada Foundation handed over on Thursday, May 7, 500,000 FFP2 masks to the pharmaceutical products directorate of the Health Ministry in Berrechid.
This is the first package of the 1 million FFP2 masks the Foundation promised to offer to healthcare workers who are on the front line in the fight against Covid-19.
According to Adib Mourad, pharmacist in charge of the directorate, these masks will be distributed to all hospitals in the Kingdom that receive Covid-19 patients. They are destined exclusively to healthcare staff in direct contact with patients infected with coronavirus.
The FFP2 masks, which protect their wearers against the risks of inhaling infectious agents transmissible by air, have become an essential protection gear in hospitals in these times of the coronavirus pandemic.
The remaining 500,000 FFP2 masks will be handed to the Health Ministry next week.
The donation, worth tens of millions of dirhams, translates the foundation’s solidarity with the medical staff who devote themselves day and night to treating patients infected with the new coronavirus.
The Al Mada Foundation’s donation contributes to the collective effort and the national solidarity chain set up to fight the pandemic.
Al Mada Board of Directors had, on the proposal of its main shareholder, donated more than $200 million to the special fund dedicated to the management of the Coronavirus pandemic in Morocco.
The special fund, designed to cover coronavirus-related health costs and support sectors vulnerable to shocks induced by the Coronavirus crisis, had been created on March 16 at the instructions of King Mohammed VI.
