Moroccan novelist shortlisted for 2020 Prize of Five Continents of Francophonie

Moroccan novelist and artist Youssouf Amine Elalamy is among the ten finalists for the 2020 Prize of Five Continents of Francophonie, with his novel “C’est beau la guerre”, published by Le Fennec publishing house, sources from the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) said.

Youssouf Amine Elalamy was the recipient, for this same novel, of the Orange Book Prize in Africa, which rewards novels written in French by an African writer and published by a publisher based on the African continent.

Author of several novels written in Arabic, French or English, Youssouf Amine Elalamy won the 1999 prize for best travel book awarded by the British Council International for his writings in English.

“C’est beau la guerre” tells the story of a young actor who was exiled from his country by a fratricidal war. Placed in a refugee camp, he decides to use his talents as an actor to bring back the dead and relieve the pain of his companions in misfortune…

Created in 2001 by the OIF, this Prize rewards each year a narrative fictional text (novel, story and collection of short stories). The Prize makes it possible to highlight literary talents reflecting cultural and editorial diversity in the French language on the five continents and to promote them on the international scene.
