Moroccan Jaouad Mahjour gets new WHO position as Deputy Director General
The World Health Organization (WHO) has appointed Moroccan citizen Dr Jaouad Mahjour Deputy Director General of the organization.
Mahjour was formerly acting WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean and has 30 years of experience in public health and project elaboration, and transmissible disease projects assessments.
The Moroccan permanent mission at the UN office in Geneva welcomed the appointment of the Moroccan health expert.
“The appointment of the Moroccan in that high level position within this UN organization is a recognition of the commitment and the active role of Morocco, under the clear leadership of H.M. King Mohammed VI, within international organizations and specialized agencies of the United Nations,” the mission said in a statement.
