Morocco’s Medicines Agency Launches VigiMobile and VigiUp to Ease Reporting of Adverse Effects

Morocco’s Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AMMPS) officially launched two digital platforms on Wednesday in Rabat, VigiMobile and VigiUp, to make it easier to report adverse effects linked to medicines and health products.

The launch took place during the international Med Safety Week 2026, running from November 2 to 8 under the slogan “Adverse events: don’t ignore them, report them”. It was presented as part of the modernization of the national health system, in line with King Mohammed VI’s guidance on health and medicine safety. Attending were the health ministry’s secretary-general, AMMPS director general Samir Ahid, institutional officials and health professionals.

Health Minister Youns Bjijou said VigiMobile will be used to report adverse effects of medicines and vaccines, and VigiUp for other health products, giving professionals and citizens simple tools. In an address, AMMPS director general Samir Ahi stressed the importance of vigilance mechanisms, a culture of reporting and coordination between national and local actors. Digital transformation, he said, is not an end in itself but should simplify procedures for users, improve the flow of information and help institutions identify and respond to risks.

Ahid said the agency is modernizing its monitoring systems, improving early detection of risks and making it easier for health professionals and citizens to take part. For the AMMPS, he said, medicine safety does not end with marketing authorization but relies on continuous monitoring, early detection and a collective ability to act.
A panel asked how to make every health professional an actor in patient safety, with reporting as the cornerstone of vigilance. During the week, the agency is also running national and regional awareness activities, including sessions with university students and local events coordinated with the network of Regional Vigilance Centers.
