Moroccan Engineering School EMSI Inaugurates Campus in Nouakchott

The Moroccan School of Engineering Sciences (EMSI) inaugurated on Thursday a new campus in Nouakchott, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster academic cooperation between Morocco and Mauritania.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Mauritanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Yacoub Ould Moine, the Director General of the EMSI Group, Mohamed El Rhabi, and the Moroccan Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar.

Speaking on this occasion, Ould Moine said that the inauguration of this campus is part of the fruitful cooperation between Mauritania and the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco, which benefits from the constant care of the Heads of State of both countries.

This inauguration, he said, will contribute to supporting the country’s digital transformation and development by equipping the national economy with high-level skills in key areas such as artificial intelligence, digitization, and engineering.

It will also help hone the professional and technical skills of Mauritanian youth according to the most demanding international standards, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the local and regional labor markets, the minister added.

The opening of this campus is an opportunity to benefit from the practical expertise accumulated by the school over the years and to share it with the Mauritanian side through an approach based on listening to local actors, including the entrepreneurial sector, which consists of “evolving training programs alongside them” and developing exchanges between students and professors, El Rhabi said.

EMSI is engaging in partnerships with the Polytechnic Higher School of Nouakchott and the SupNum Higher Institute of Digital Affairs, he noted, adding that the school welcomes Mauritanian exchange students in Rabat.

For his part, Chabar emphasized that the opening of this institution is part of bringing top schools closer to Mauritanian students. He disclosed that two other projects aimed at training Mauritanian talent in agriculture and veterinary medicine will be launched under two partnership agreements signed in early 2026 between the Mauritanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (IAV).

Other Moroccan institutes in the business and management sectors are also considering opening campuses in Mauritania, he said, recalling that the number of Mauritanian executives and professionals trained in Morocco currently stands at more than 30,000.
