UNFPA Reports Progress on Women’s Rights, Adolescent Girls and Autism Care in Morocco

The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) has published its annual ‘Orange Book of Results,’ presenting a review of its partnership activities with Morocco over the past year. Among the main achievements cited are a national roadmap for adolescent girls’ rights, a new system for the social support of women victims of violence, and Morocco’s first intersectoral national plan on autism.

The report highlights ‘Prosocial AI,’ a flagship UNFPA initiative in Morocco aimed at preserving individuals’ agency and autonomy in a future shaped by artificial intelligence, across schools, universities, workplaces and daily life, combining human and algorithmic capabilities. It also cites a dynamic dashboard tracking demographic and social indicators developed for the Tangier region, described as a reproducible model for data visualization and territorial governance, alongside the Girls Impact Fund, a blended-finance mechanism designed to secure sustainable funding for programs serving adolescent girls. A university certification program has trained 92 people from public administration, civil society, the private sector and media.

On violence against women, the report notes the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family has deployed Aman Laki (‘You Are Safe’), an integrated information system for the social response to gender-based violence, now operating in 107 multifunctional centers nationwide. With UNFPA support, 209 frontline professionals have been trained to use the system, alongside a national roadmap on adolescent girls’ rights designed to address gaps in public policy around newer forms of violence, including cyberbullying.

The report also highlights Morocco’s first intersectoral national plan on autism, described as the Kingdom’s first comprehensive strategic framework in the field, built around six pillars: institutional governance and coordination, early screening and equitable access to care, inclusive education, professional integration, scientific research and innovation, and awareness-raising to combat stigma.

The plan calls for close cooperation between ministries, local authorities, civil society and international partners, with the stated goal of turning autism care into a structured national undertaking that integrates health, social and educational dimensions within a human-rights framework.
