Libya plans to increase its natural gas production to 4 billion cubic feet per day within the next three to five years, Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek said.
Speaking at a forum in Bangkok Tuesday, Abdulsadek said Libya had significant opportunities to expand production using already discovered associated and non-associated natural gas resources.
According to data from Libya’s National Oil Corporation, the country produced about 77 billion cubic feet of natural gas in August 2026. The planned expansion would represent an increase of more than 55% from current production levels.
The initiative is significant for Libya’s economy, which remains heavily dependent on the oil and gas sector as its principal source of government revenue and foreign currency earnings.
