Coronavirus: China to build hospital in Algeria

China will build a Coronavirus protection hospital in Algeria to help the North African country tackle the increasing spread of the disease, which has already infected 584 people, Chinese news agency Xinhua reports.

The agency has not provided information on the date building will commence but said 4,000 Chinese workers will be working on the project.

The future hospital is part of China’s efforts to support Algeria contain the pandemic. Beijing also sent on March 27 a delegation made of 7 medical experts and 5 technicians and medical aid worth around $455,000.

The Algerian health ministry announced Monday 73 new cases bringing the overall infection toll to 584. So far, 35 people have died of the disease and 37 people have recovered since the outbreak in the country, in February.
