Moroccan police and domestic intelligence agency, DGSN and DGST respectively, denied their systems have been hacked in a claimed data leak by pro-Algerian group Jabarout.
The two institutions categorically denied, in a joint statement, any breach of its computer systems following the release by the hacker group of personal data allegedly belonging to around 70,000 Moroccan security agents and civil servants.
The two agencies said their information systems meet the highest cybersecurity standards and said they are not connected to open internet networks.
The denial comes after Jabaroot published, between August 24 and 25, lists containing names, registration numbers, identity document references, bank details, dates of birth and recruitment dates of individuals it claimed are Moroccan agents who had operated across Europe on behalf of intelligence services.
According to the official communiqué, the published personal data does not result from any intrusion into security systems.
Instead, the DGSN-DGST pole stated that the information consists of old records extracted from databases managed by insurance companies and social and health coverage bodies.
The joint statement also warned against the repeated circulation of fabricated photographs falsely presented as showing security personnel, as well as forged documents claimed to be authentic official papers.
It noted that these materials often feature non-existent uniforms, ranks and visual identities that do not match those used by Moroccan security forces, along with obvious linguistic errors.
The DGSN-DGST pole said investigations are continuing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to identify and arrest those responsible for producing and disseminating the false content.
Jabaroot has previously claimed responsibility for other data leaks in Morocco, including records from the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and property-related data linked to notaries.
