Libya’s Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, has called for intensified efforts to strengthen the country’s military institution through improved training, organization and adherence to discipline.
Speaking at an expanded meeting in Tripoli on Sunday, 19 July 2026, with senior military officials, including branch commanders, the Secretary-General of the General Staff and heads of departments, Al-Namroush reviewed progress on a plan to restructure and reorganize the armed forces.
The meeting focused on challenges affecting the implementation of the reform programme, improving administrative systems and enhancing the efficiency of military personnel.
Al-Namroush stressed the need for continuous development of the Libyan army through training programmes and effective management systems to boost readiness and support the protection of national security and stability.
He also directed officials to address retirement-related administrative and legal issues and ensure strict compliance with attendance requirements and military regulations across all units and departments.
