Libya’s Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah has directed the Ministry of Education to complete preparations for educational institutions and ensure the timely delivery of school textbooks ahead of the new academic year.
During a meeting with Education Minister Mohammed Al-Qriou on July 26, 2026, Dbeibah stressed the need to follow approved timelines, continue teacher training programs and accelerate digital transformation efforts to improve the quality of education.
The Education Minister said more than 90 per cent of school textbooks had been delivered to ministry warehouses, with distribution already underway to 7,534 schools. He said the process is expected to be completed by the end of August to ensure schools are fully prepared before classes resume.
Al-Qriou also highlighted progress in education infrastructure, including the opening of more than 340 schools under the government’s Return to Life initiative. He added that efforts are ongoing to furnish and equip the facilities with classroom materials to provide better learning environments for students.
